Thankful for friends

This last week has been a trying one for me. My children and I have all been sick with the stomach flu. One by one we all fell victim to this horrble bug. Poor Savannah has been hit the hardest. Atlanta and I are feeling fine now but she still keeps throwing up. I went to work Monday and sent Savannah to the babysitters. She hadn't had a fever in 24hrs and seemed to be doing better. I stopped by at lunch time and she was doing well. As I got into my car at 4:30pm to pick her up the babysitter called. She started throwing up again. When I got there to pick her up both Savannah and Atlanta wanted my attention. I still had to go home and make dinner for everyone. I was tired and worn out. My good friend and babysitter came by around 7pm and played with both kids while I made dinner and took a much needed shower. I was so thankful at the moment for her friendship and kindness. Well today, I was able to give back to her. She called and my lovely children shared the stomach bug with her. She was throwing up and not feeling well. I took her some medicine and gatorade this morning, and made a nice dinner for her family. Nothing is worse than not feeling well but still having make dinner for you family. It always makes you feel good when you get to give back to a good friend that has helped you.

What has a good friend done lately to help you out?

What have you done to help someone else?

Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NKJV

If you like sharing stories of how you or someone you know "gave back" join me and my friend at Living So Abundantly with our new meme starting July 7th called Give Back Thursday. Look forward to seeing you!!!

  1. My friends always give and give. I try to match. My BB just got his own place and we have been trying to help him furnish it. They have been very generous with extras they have. They make me feel warm and fuzzy and him too!

  4. it's great to have a friend you can rely on. a good friend helped me choose a second-hand car recently. he spent time checking on potential cars that would suit my needs and budget.

i try to help my friends in any way i can. helped a friend's son to find a job last week, and assisted another friend to start a small business.

i hope you, your kids and your friend will be feeling better soon.

  5. My friends and I are always doing little things for each other. We know that if any of us was in need the others would help in any way possible.

I do a lot of volunteer work that benefits many people.

  6. Good friends are hard to come by. Especially those that are action oriented. My sisters are my best friends, but they are far away so favors don't often happen.
I try to be good to my family and my friends, I do what ever I can if I feel it is achievable.

  7. I hope you are all feeling much better now. This is such an inspiration to read about love in action.

My friend gives so much of herself. And I to her.

My thing to help someone was volunteering my time to care of the other volumteers children during VBS.

    Aloha!

  8. That was very sweet of your friend!

Answers: A good friend invited me to a picnic breakfast with her family! She is an amazing listener and encourager, and it was just what I needed.

I volunteered to do VBS at our new church. =D

  9. Our friends surprised us with an anniversary cake at the end of our special shared dinner.

Making phone calls to friends to check up on them after surgery and sending out cards are ways to encourage each other.

Hope everyone is well at your home.

  10. I am so passionate about encouragement although I call it sheltering. :) So beautiful that you were willing to return the kindness given to you. That's what life should be. And it's part of God's plan.

This week I was sheltered by my son-in-law who came 3 hours to pick my husband and I up when our van was totaled by hitting a deer. I'll have to do some cooking for that boy!

    Blessings,
    Pamela
